This picture we were getting some plants to make medicine. We were on Leo Creek Road. We got some sap and mosquito repellant. There was Issac F, Pierre J, Simon J, Randy with his students and our group.

Here Celestine Thomas was showing the PRA trainee's some indian mosquito repellent. They used the it to keep the mosquitos away, they just burned a piece of the repellent.

Here the chief of Tl'azt'en Nation was handing out certificates to the TESI group for their end of the program. The group worked in Fort St. James at different participating locations. Some of the trainee's got hired at different locations.

This is a picture of a workshop that we were doing at the elders centre. The workshop was about what they wanted to see in the next phase. We invited our community members to get some input from them.

The youth of Tl'azt'en Nation were playing some games. Throughout the day they did some planning on what they wanted to see in the future and how they could make it happen. They did planning on FAS/FAE on how to prevent it happening within the community.

This was end of the 1st phase of what we were doing. We did research on medicinal plants and learned our carrier language. This was a group picture of all of the people who worked on the first site.

The PRA's set up a booth for the Career Fair at the Eugene Joseph School. We had a display of what we were doing in the office and in the field. There was alot of people at the Career Fair. It was fun for all of us.

This is Annie, Kim, Treena at the Health Centre watching some youth and employees playing around with some instruments. For beginners, I would say they sound pretty good.

This was a Tele-Conference between PRA's and the Minister of Management held at Prince George Regional Hospital. In the near future Tl'azt'en hope to have a Tele Health which brings patients and doctors together without having to be face to face. (That would be very good for our elders).

Here they were picking Kinnikinnick (dunih t'an) on Cunningham Road. We were getting ready to prepare medicine, we were just collecting what we need to make different kinds of medicine. We collect it in different areas of our territory.

Here we were having lunch on Cunningham Road. Moe was cutting a tree down for his grandma; the tree was alder (k'us).
They used it to smoke moose hides, also to change the color of the hide to a very nice tanned color, then they made clothing out of it. |

The PRA's were looking for some medicine here but didn't find what they were looking for. They had to look in certain areas to find what they need. They learned what kind of habitat many plants grow in.

They PRA's were preparing to go on a boat trip to the picto-graphs and binche Falls. The driver was Harvey Sr., and the passengers were Shannon M, Theresa A, Treena A, Moe J, Kim J, Annie A. We had a great time, the day was beautiful and we got some nice pictures. We checked out the islands around Tache and Binche.

This was one of the islands that we stopped at. The island was called Battleship island, there was alot of caves on the island. They told us an old story about the island that happened a long time ago.

While we were at the island we took a group picture. Not all of the group went on the trip, there was just 4 of us: Treena, Moe, Annie and Kim.

We were on our way back from the Binche falls. We were sitting in the back of the truck because it was too hot. We all had a good time that day, now we know where the falls and picto graphs are.

This was our presentation at the Science Camp. We showed the kids around the camp and pointed out some plants, told them what the medicinal uses were. The youth was very interested and asked alot of questions.

his was a picture of our presentation at the Eugene Joseph Elementary School on Aboriginal Day. We prepared medicine and had a display of different kinds of medicines that we prepared. We also had a display of plants that we had collected and told them what they are used for. Showed them our pictures. The kids enjoyed the presentation. They were all interested. (at least pretended to be)

This was some of the medicine that we had in our display, on Aboriginal Day. There was medincine there for ulcers, T.B., heart, kidney's, open wounds, and blood.

This is a picture of a cloud that we took when we were at the Tanizul Bridge. What do yo think it looks like? We think it looks like a marshmallow man. That was an awesome day, we were driving around and getting pictures.

Here we went to Nation road to see the kokanee run. Nathan was using a dip net to catch some kokanee for our elders, unfortunately we only caught two. The falls were very beautiful.

This was a Boat Building Project that Tl'azt'en Nation did with the youth. There was four youth for four weeks in training on how to build a river boat. They did two groups of 4 for July and August. The winner of the boat is Shirley Joseph from Tache.

This was a presentation that we did at the University of Northern British Columbia. Our presentation was about how we are learing our culture, language, studying traditional medicinal plants, setting up websites, and training on various computer programs.

Here is Amelia and Deanna at the Rediscovery Camp in Lake Babine. There was 17 youth that attended the camp for 7 days.The parents went out on the last night to see their kids. The youth really enjoyed the camp.

The youth learned to have alot of respect there. They had more respect for the earth and all living things. They looked at things differently.

This is a picture of Babine Portage. This is where our ancestors gathered their salmon for the winter. That was about 100 years ago. We stayed here for one night to see the salmon run. We caught 24 salmon that night. |
